The King Family:
Thomas and Glenda King moved to Hanford, CA in Kings County in 1991 with their small children. Their desire was to start an independent Bible-Believing Baptist Church.
Pastor King is in charge of the Worship and Music Services. His beautiful singing voice is clearly enjoyed by the folks, as he leads the Choir and Congregation in the Old Fashion Hymns that is so loved by so many. He shares the scriptures, tells interesting stories, and on an occasion will throw in a 'funny' antidote.
Pastor King has a true calling to the ministry. His heart and mind is constantly on the work of the Lord. He is the type of person that is known as 'down-home and easy-going' . His wonderful family are all involved with the ministry.
Glenda works with the children in the School and behind the scenes, helping wherever the Lord has called her. She is a precious spirit with a soft voice and a big smile for everyone.
The adult-children... well, one teaches School and plays the piano for the services, another works the soundboard and is involved with marketing campaigns, and another does sign-language when she is home from College.
How It Began:
Even thought they did not know anyone in the Central Valley area, they just knew God had given them a burden for the people of Kings County. They began by going door-to-door and inviting people to attend their first service that was held on November 17, 1991. It was hard at first to connect with so many homes in Hanford, but with a lot of determination they accomplished their goals. That very first service had 38 people in attendance. As time went by the Church has grown and out-grown several of its buildings. Over the past 24 years the Lord had blessed the Church with well-over 80,000 people that have attended New Testament Baptist Church.
Ministries In The Church:
The ministries in the Church include Sunday School with a Bible class for every age group. There are now 5 Adult Bible classes, an active Youth group, a door-to-door Visitation program, Music Ministry with a full Choir, a 'Building Blocks' and Private Christian School program that was designed for children ages 3 through 12 and kindergarten through 12th grade, and a Bible Institute that instructs men and women for local Church Ministry. There is the 'Reformers Unanimous' (an addictions prevention program), and a Bus Ministry that brings people to church from the surrounding area.
